Ballantine Castings have a vast range of traditional Victorian patterns for all aspects of cast iron street furniture. Indeed we believe it to be the largest selection in the UK. We have been supplying traditional street furniture to clients throughout the world for over 150 years; providing an ergonomic, aesthetic and durable option for both commercial and domestic clients.
- The most recent range
Cast iron street furniture has multiple forms and uses and we have a selection of thousands of benches, seat ends, bollards, litter bins, planters, tree grilles and ball standards to name a few. Some of these designs are hundreds of years old and can still be produced in the traditional fashion by our time served greensand moulders.
Unlike many suppliers of cast iron street furniture we manufacture everything in our foundry and are proud to be UK producers of these products. Most recently we supplied a number range of fully built, hand painted cast iron benches for a project for export which can be seen in the images on this post.
A great deal of time, money and care is being spent on conserving and restoring our environment and making good the neglect in our inner city and industrial areas. Cast iron has an important role to play in restoring the past and building the future, not only in its ability to replicate the past, but for its permanence. All of the castings across our range are made from 100% recyclable materials – to make the benches shown we turned old, scrap castings into stunning new designs. As iron is effectively wholly recyclable the process of making castings is completely sustainable and will continue long into the next century. Indeed cast iron is a Greenpeace recommended material. We really don’t think there can be a greater commendation for the environmental properties of cast iron than that.
